Children used Face Time to talk to a teacher in England. They asked questions about life in England. They found that it was snowing and were delighted to be able to see it on the screen. Another highlight was being able to introduce themselves to the teacher’s baby son.
Following this, the class participated in an exercise to use both Face Time and Whatsapp to contact each other. The class was divided into groups, with one group remaining in the classroom and the other group going out into different parts of the school. The school’s newly installed WiFi performed well both inside and within the school grounds.
In subsequent lessons students have covered different aspects of communication including newspapers and letters. Children had the opportunity to read articles from The New Scientist magazine and online editions of the local newspaper, The Hindu.
Students undertook a test to analyse their understanding of various forms of communication.
E-mails and presentation skills are areas to be covered shortly.
